Bristles Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is first and foremost a family dental practice. Dr. Shirley Parikh has treated children for the last 15 years. We pride ourselves on being able to treat the whole family in one office and many times at the same appointment time.
As recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, we recommend children to visit their dentist before their 1st birthday. The importance of finding a dental home before their first birthday is to prevent decay on their primary teeth. By the age of 3, children will have all 20 primary (baby) teeth. Habits like thumb-sucking, pacifiers, and sleeping with a bottle will all affect their growth and development and therefore the importance of visiting the dentist before their teeth develop.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends children to be screened by age 3 for Obstructive Sleep Apnea and dentists are primary screeners. If your child is snoring or mouth breathing, I would recommend to have them evaluated.
Our little patients have their very own waiting room with kids books, working table and tv.
